A visual look back on 60 runDisney races

A visual look back on 60 runDisney races

Delightfully Dopey Kimberly and I celebrated our 60th runDisney race together as Run All The Races this past weekend at the 2016 Disneyland 10K.  Yep…that’s six-zero runDisney races in just about 2.5 years.

So how do runners that live on opposite sides of the country meet and manage to run so many races together?  Social media, lots of banked travel points, and the support of our families.

We met in 2013 via social media, each looking for a roommate for the 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon weekend.  Having never actually met each other, we wanted to double-check that neither of us was crazy (or at least the same level of crazy), so we made plans to meet in person and check each other out at the 2014 Walt Disney World Expo.  We hit it off right away and decided to run our first race together as part of the Inaugural Dopey Challenge. So on January 12, 2014 we crossed the starting line of the Walt Disney World Marathon and our philosophy of RunAllTherunDisneyRaces was born.

Over the course of the last 2.5 years and 60 runDisney races we’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to bring our families and friends together.  We’ve not only spent many race weekends together, we’ve celebrated numerous running and life milestones and our extended families are subject to the Perfectly Goofy Gail family holiday celebration every January – where we are joined by parents, in-laws, long-time friends and lots and lots of Italian food.

We were thrilled to be joined by our friend Sterlynn for the 2016 Disneyland 10K. She’s good sport and just shakes her head at all our runDisney crazy.

The race theme was Aladdin and we dressed as the spitting camels from the now defunct Disney-MGM Studios Aladdin parade (and our costumes really did spit water…). Even funnier was the fact that Sterlynn thought we said we were dressing as candles…so you can imagine the look on her face when we showed up in full camel 😉 We had a good laugh and took lots of “camels posed as candles” photos on the course.

It’s been an amazing time – and I still can’t believe I get to share my love of runDisney with the ladies of Run All The Races.

Mike. Mike. Mike. Guess what day it is? 10Kaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!

Here’s to the next 60 runDisney races (and we’re already at 61 with the 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon)!

You can check out a photo costume review of our runDisney races 1-12 here, races 13 – 24 here, races 25 – 36 here, races 37 – 48 here, and 49 – 49 here…there’s some funny stuff and great memories.  Thanks to everyone that joined us for a race and wore some crazy with us.

Thanks for following along –

Perfectly Goofy Gail
