In honor of #ThrowbackThursday, the ladies of Run All The Races are looking back on the 2015 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend and a very unique special event – the New Balance Girls Night Out.
Launched in 2014, New Balance Girls’ Night Out (GNO) is designed to offer women the opportunity to redefine what a “night out” with their girlfriends means to them and share their experiences using #NBGNO on Twitter and Instagram.
Music. Fitness. Squad Goals. This is endorphin-fueled frenzy at its finest. A heart-pumping, butt-kicking workout event with expert fitness hosts, nutritious eats, and super swag. So grab your girls, grab your gear, and get ready for a different kind of night on the town.
It was fate that we just happened to be on our phones at exactly the right time to see a quick post on the Disney Parks Blog about how to sign up for the event. We managed to snag spots and were excited to get a chance to try something different this race weekend.
Upon confirmation that we were accepted to the event, we were informed that the event was to take place at Disney’s Grand California Hotel & Spa Convention Center. Oh, and by the way, wear athletic clothes, as we were going to have to earn our pampering and snacks.
The focus of the #NBGNO event was – of course – the runDisney New Balance Tinker Bell shoes, which were released specifically at the Tinker Bell Half Marathon race weekend. The table decorations included the shoes and twinkling fairy lights – so cute. We’d been to the Race Expo on the first day and managed to snag these beauties ourselves (and Kimberly and Jessica even sported them to the event!).
As we checked into the event we were ushered into the ballroom and discovered that we were going to get our yoga on! We grabbed mats, spread out around the floor, and mixed and mingled with our fellow participants.
Then it was time for stretching and posing. I’ll be the first to admit that while I love yoga, I’m definitely NOT the most limber person in the world (I blame RunningAllTheRaces…and getting older…). A live DJ provided some great tunes (and covered up all our giggling at ourselves and our weak yoga game).
The mellowing out continued after the yoga with a champagne toast in New Balance glasses, wine, snacks and mini spa treatments! After you finished your champagne, there were calligraphy artists there that personalized your glass with your name and pixie dust accents before you took it home as a souvenir. I still have mine – it sits on a shelf right under all my runDisney medals.
We had a great time at this event and have been hoping New Balance would bring it back at either Tinker Bell or Princess Half Marathon Weekends – running shoes crossed it does make another appearance!
