Even the most creative runner can hit a costuming roadblock now and again…and this is exactly what happened to me when I was planning on what to wear for the runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend.
The runDisney Wine & Dine 10K was the first race of the Inaugural Lumiere’s Two Course Challenge
Work has been crazy busy and I would be traveling to this race weekend ALL BY MYSELF…i.e., Delightfully Dopey Kimberly would NOT be traveling to join me – she’s had the work and life crazies as well – and PhotoBomb Becca was caught up with work and her kids (but we did manage to squeeze in some margaritas). California Kiley and I had a great idea for Mickey’s Holiday 5K and it turned out really cute, but that’s another post for another time…
I was staying off property with family AND had to be in Tampa on Sunday for work no later than 11:30AM. Put that together with the unseasonably HOT temperatures scheduled for the weekend and I was plum out of ideas. I rustled up all my INKnBURN gear and decided to figure it out when I got to Florida. As I mentioned above, the 5K was taken care of – but that still left 2 races, 19.3 miles, a Sunday time deadline, and a hot forecast to contend with when deciding what to wear for the rest of Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend.
ME…I do actually RUN, generally for non-runDisney races, but this was FUN (and NO ONE recognized me dressed as a runner…).
Initially, I had hoped to wear my INKnBURN Western pants and tech shirt combo (I had even packed my cowgirl hat and ordered a horse-on-stick) but it was just too darn hot for pants. This costume will live on for another (cooler) day.
Instead I decided to dress as a runner – turns out this is the ONE costume I can wear where NO ONE recognizes me… 😉 I pulled out one of my personal favorite INKnBURN combos – the women’s Ella singlet and women’s Bee sports skirt. It was perfect for the temperatures and I fluttered to the finish in 59:38 (which is pretty darn speedy compared to my “normal” runDisney 10K time).
Sunday’s Wine & Dine Half Marathon presented a unique runDisney challenge for me as I had to be
Meeko (Can you tell I was a little excited to see him?…)
in Tampa early in the afternoon for an engineering conference I was running, so I had to REALLY RUN the half marathon to make sure I could squeeze everything in and still make the drive across the state. As the runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon celebrates Disney’s Food & Wine Festival, which is held at Epcot, I thought it was the perfect venue for my INKnBURN women’s Kimono tech shirt and women’s Kimono sports skirt – I would fit right in as I ran by the Japan pavilion.
Feeling comfortable (especially in extreme temperatures) can make all the difference and I was able to complete the race in 2:17 and stop for #AllTheCharacterPhotos – couldn’t have asked for anything more, except to have had the rest of the ladies of #RunAllTheRaces with me.
I can’t say enough about the comfort and quality of the INKnBURN items I own – add in the fact that they are beautiful on their own or can be dolled up with a few accessories and make AWESOME running costumes (see my Harley Quinn costume from the runDisney Super Heroes 5K)…and, last but not least – they are made in the good ‘ole USA.
As the title of this post says: Thank goodness for INKnBURN!
